Importance Of Oil Packaging

Oil has been used for ages as a way of lubricating moving parts, and more recently combustion engines. Oil is not only a lubricant though; it also acts as a cleaner, a coolant, sealant and more. This being said, oil is one of the most important parts of any machine and taking the necessary steps in making sure that the oil you put in is of the best quality, and was manufactured to best tend to the needs of your engine is a necessity. West Penn offers a long line of different types of oils, fluids, and additives as well as any custom blend you need for your project.

The packaging of automotive oil and other liquids can be just as important as the oils themselves. There are numerous different types of oil, most of which all require different means of packaging. From motor oils to industrial oils, transmission fluids and more, care must always be taken to properly package these liquids.

Back before modern day plastic, motor oil used to be contained in glass bottles and metal cans. Oil cans were not as easy to open as containers are today. There were can spouts that were made separately from the oil cans that would be used to puncture a hole in the can and provide the easiest way to pour the oil where it needed to go. Now a day’s though, oil containers come in literally many different shapes and sizes. The smallest containers on the market are generally ranging from 1 quart to 1 liter all the way up to 5 liters; this is because most modern car engines require that amount or more to be completely filled with oil.
